RG Castings optimises production of aluminium pump housings

As a leading manufacturer of rotary lobe pumps and rotors for chemical applications, our client operates in sectors where reliability and precision are critical. To produce their aluminium pump housings and covers, they were in search of a new partner. Their existing process, based on manual techniques, offered little scalability and limited room for optimisation. Time for a change.

From manual to optimised production process

“Doing things better” has always been the guiding principle for this major player in the pump industry. They live up to that by continuously improving their products, embracing innovation, and fostering honest, cooperative relationships with customers and suppliers.

By reassessing their production process and shifting to sand casting technology using the ALSi7Mg03 aluminium alloy, we now deliver aluminium cast parts with shorter lead times and lower production costs.

High-quality finishing of aluminium castings

The pump housings and covers are heat-treated after casting, followed by CNC machining tailored to the final application, and then pressure-tested. This ensures the technical quality and mechanical reliability of each aluminium component. We currently produce around 120 castings per type annually.

Follow-up projects within a trusted partnership

True to their innovation philosophy, our client returned to RG Castings Group after the successful optimisation of their pump housings, this time for the development of an aluminium rotor that was previously machined from solid material.

A strong example of how technical know-how, trust and collaboration go hand in hand. With RG Castings Group as their dedicated partner, our client is fully investing in scalability and cost-efficiency.
